The Odd Couple (Female Version)
By Neil SimonDirected by Michael R. Harris
Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. Neil Simon was in top-notch form when he wrote “The Odd Couple (Female Version). The play is fast paced and hilarious. It is a wonderful tonic to chase away the mid winter blues. Florence Unger, the neurotic neat freak, moves in with Olive Madison, the loveable slob. Although these two women are great friends and care deeply about each other, they immediately get on each other’s nerves. Through several side-splitting sequences the tension builds between the women until the last straw- the final explosion that mercifully blows the couple apart. Adding dimension to the play and insight into the main characters, not to mention countless laughs are the vivacious friends: Mickey the cop; Reneé, a single thirty-something; Sylvie, the cynic; and Vera, sweet but not too swift (“If she took speed she might be able to keep up!”); and the Constanzuela brothers. Performed on February 24-26, 2005 by Phoenix Players Cast: Patricia Boyd as Florence Unger Kathleen Jetté as Olive Madison Angela Thompsonas Mickey Liza Stekolnikova as Sylvie Annemarie Zeyl as Reneé Sacha Bedard as Manolo Mark Johnstone as “Hayzoos” |
